Dr. Hamish John Davidson
Musician and Doctor of Chiropractor

Date of Birth: 7th April 1983
Hometown:
Yinnar, Victoria, Australia

Current City: Bendigo, Victoria, Australia

Twenty-eight year old Hamish Davidson is a very versatile and experienced musician as well as a respected doctor of chiropractic. The eldest child of Fay and Alan Davidson begun fiddle lessons at Yinnar Primary School when he was eight years old. He since spent time learning 5-string banjo, guitar, dobro, piano acordion and piano.

Hamish has explored many genres throughout his musical career. He actively plays Bluegrass, Country, Swing and Celtic Music with the Davidson Brothers. However, an interesting creative exploration occurred between the ages of 17 and 21. During this period, Hamish intensively studied the ragtime, stride and novelty piano styles. He also studies the science of player piano music and composed many piano pieces in this style.

Laurie Grundy deserves credit for spending countless hours in the late 1990's teaching Hamish the banjo. Laurie has since moved from Porepunkah Victoria to Eminence Missouri and builds bluegrass banjos full time. Laurie's 50th banjo was presented to Hamish during a performance in Yinnar in January 2008.

Hamish won the Australian Bluegrass Fiddle Championship in 2000 and the Banjo Championship in 2009. Historically, it is customary to retire from the championships after winner a section three times, but Hamish was politely asked to retire from the championships in 2010. In 2008 he was a Grand Finalist in the Grand Masters Fiddle Contest in Nashville Tennessee. He also won Best Overall Musician out of 800 bands in the National University Band Competition in 2003.

These days his primary musical commitment is with his seventeen month younger brother Lachlan. The Davidson Brothers have toured throughout every state of Australia and parts of the USA and Europe. They have won two Australian Country Music Awards for Best Instrumental in 2009 and 2010. Previous winners of this award include the legendary Keith Urban and Tommy Emmanuel.

The Davidson Brothers have made 7 recordings:

Here to Stay, 2011
Born to Play, 2009
Davidson Brothers, 2007
Raised on the Road, 2006
Where I Want To Be, 2004
Stay All Night, 2003
Blue Spruce, 1999

Hamish also enjoys recording and performing with other artists. The list of well known artists that Hamish has shared the stage with is a long one. It includes those such as Troy Cassar-Daley, John Williamson, Kasey Chambers, Tommy Emmanuel, John Foreman, Anne Kirkpatrick, Sara Storer, Martin Hayes (Ireland), Eric Bogle (Scotland), Jim Lauderdale (USA), Melinda Schneider, Beccy Cole, Adam Harvey, Greg Champion, Travis Sinclair, Steve Forde, Lee Kernaghan and Jimmy Barnes.

Despite being an accomplished and award winning musician, Hamish has owned his own chiropractic practice in Bendigo Victoria since June 2008. He has a wonderful team at City Chiropractic Care including an associate chiropractor, three chiropractic assistants, three social workers and a clinical psychologist.

Yet the thing which Hamish and his brother look forward to, and enjoy most of all, is recording in Nashville with their brilliant record producers Mark Thornton and Larry Marrs.

On top of all that, Hamish enjoys running, graphic design, and actively studies health and ancient wisdom. His favourite writers include Dr John Demartini, Deepak Chopra, His Holiness the Dalai Lama and Eckhart Tolle. Click here for Hamish's recommended reading.
